Shopbop is Amazon-owned, and it shows in their logistics — returns are fast and the process is reliable. Here's what the policy actually covers.
Standard policy
- 30 days from the ship date for a full refund
- Free return shipping for US orders (prepaid UPS label)
- Items must be unworn, unwashed, undamaged, in original condition with all tags attached
- Order number required — returns are tied to your account
The "from ship date" start is worth noting. For items that take a few days to arrive, you're effectively getting a slightly shorter usable window than a "from delivery date" policy would give you. In practice, the difference is small for domestic orders.
Final sale
Shopbop marks items "Final Sale" — these cannot be returned. During their semi-annual events (the "Event" sale) and major discount periods, a significant portion of inventory moves to final sale. Look for the label on the product page before purchasing.
Outside of marked final sale items, Shopbop's 30-day free return policy applies broadly — even for sale-priced items that aren't specifically designated final sale.
How to return
- Log into shopbop.com and go to "Order History"
- Select the order and items to return
- Print the prepaid UPS return label
- Pack the item in the original Shopbop box or suitable packaging
- Drop off at any UPS location
Refunds process within 7–10 business days of the warehouse receiving the return. Amazon Pay purchases may have a slightly different refund timeline depending on your payment setup.
Condition requirements
Shopbop is specific about condition:
- All tags must be attached — both Shopbop's tags and any brand-specific hangtags
- No evidence of wear (no odors, marks, staining)
- No washing
- Original packaging preferred but not strictly required for all items
For shoes and accessories, original boxes/dust bags should be included where possible.
International returns
International return shipping is not free — you're responsible for return shipping costs from outside the US. The process is the same (initiate online), but you'll pay for the label.
Duties and taxes paid on the original order may or may not be refunded depending on the destination country. Contact Shopbop support if this is relevant to your return.
Shopbop vs. Amazon
Shopbop is a separate site from Amazon with its own return process — don't try to return Shopbop items through Amazon's return system. They won't process it. Go through shopbop.com directly.
If you used Amazon Pay to purchase, the refund still processes through Shopbop, not Amazon's refund system.
No-receipt returns
All Shopbop purchases are tied to an account. If you don't have an account and checked out as a guest, you'll need the order confirmation email to initiate a return.

The brands Shopbop carries hold strong secondary market value. Ulla Johnson, Veronica Beard, A.L.C., and similar contemporary designer brands regularly sell at 40–65% of retail on Vestiaire Collective, Poshmark, and TheRealReal.
