Net-a-Porter Return Policy: Everything You Need to Know

Net-a-Porter offers 28-day free returns for most items. Here's exactly how returns work, what documentation you need for designer pieces, and what's final sale.

Net-a-Porter's return policy is 28 days with free returns — standard for luxury e-commerce, with some specifics around packaging that matter for high-value purchases. Here's how it works.

Standard policy

  • 28 days from the delivery date for a full refund
  • Free return collection (they arrange pickup) or free drop-off at a carrier location
  • Items must be unworn, in original condition with all tags and packaging intact
  • Returns are processed through your Net-a-Porter account

Note the 28 days starts from delivery, not dispatch — this is buyer-friendly, especially for international orders where shipping takes time.

What you need to return items

Net-a-Porter is specific about this because they sell luxury goods:

  • Tags must be attached — including the Net-a-Porter tag and any brand-specific tags (don't remove these when you try something on)
  • Original packaging — dust bags, boxes, authenticity cards, spare parts (straps, etc.) should be included
  • Brand boutique box — for items delivered in branded boxes, return in that box where possible

Missing tags or packaging is the most common reason Net-a-Porter returns are declined. Try on clothes with tags attached; open bags carefully.

How to return

Scheduled collection: Net-a-Porter will arrange a courier pickup from your address. Log into your account, initiate the return, and schedule a pickup time. This is free and requires no trip to a shipping location.

Drop-off: Alternatively, use their prepaid label to drop off at a carrier location.

Both methods are free for standard returns.

Refunds process within 5–10 business days of Net-a-Porter receiving the return.

What's not returnable

  • Final sale items (marked on the product listing)
  • Items without original tags attached
  • Worn, altered, or damaged items
  • Swimwear or lingerie without hygienic liners
  • Personalized or custom items

EIP (Extremely Important Person) customers

Net-a-Porter's top-tier customers may have extended return windows and additional flexibility. If you're an EIP account holder, your personal shopper can walk you through your specific options.

NET-A-PORTER vs. YOOX

YOOX (Net-a-Porter's sister site, focused on off-season and discounted designer goods) has different and stricter return policies — shorter windows and more final sale items. The two sites have the same parent company (YNAP / Richemont) but separate return processes. Don't assume Net-a-Porter's policy applies to YOOX purchases.

The honest read

Net-a-Porter's return experience is polished — free scheduled collection from your home, clear process, and consistent refund processing. The packaging requirements are real and enforced, which is appropriate at the price point. Keep everything until you've decided.

The 28-day window from delivery is fair. For international customers ordering across time zones, the from-delivery start date is important.

Resale value

Net-a-Porter's inventory is luxury and contemporary designer. Pieces from Isabel Marant, Bottega Veneta, The Row, and similar brands hold excellent secondary market value — often 50–75% of retail or more for popular styles.

If you're past the return window or bought something marked final sale, the resale market is a genuine option. Cove tracks secondary market prices across designer brands so you can see exactly what your pieces are worth before deciding whether to sell.
