Eileen Fisher's return policy is 30 days for standard returns, but they also have a unique take-back and resale program called Renew. Here's how both work.
Standard return policy
- 30 days from purchase for a full refund to original payment method
- Items must be unworn, unwashed, in original condition with all tags attached
- Receipt or order confirmation required
Final sale
Items marked "Final Sale" are non-returnable. Eileen Fisher runs sale events where certain items are specifically marked non-returnable. Check before purchasing discounted pieces.
How to return in-store
Bring the item with tags and receipt to any Eileen Fisher store. Refunds process to the original payment method immediately.
How to return online
In-store: Free — return online purchases at any Eileen Fisher location.
By mail: Start the return at eileenfisher.com. A prepaid return label is provided; a return fee may be deducted. Refunds process within 5–7 business days of warehouse receipt.
Eileen Fisher Renew: the take-back program
This is what makes Eileen Fisher distinct from most apparel brands. Renew is their take-back program: you can return gently worn Eileen Fisher clothing (any age, not just recent purchases) to any Eileen Fisher store in exchange for store credit.
How Renew works:
- Bring gently used Eileen Fisher clothing to any store (doesn't need to be a recent purchase — items from 10 years ago qualify)
- Items are inspected; if accepted, you receive store credit (typically $5–$25 per item depending on condition)
- Accepted items are resold through Eileen Fisher's own Renew resale channel
The credit amounts are modest, but for a wardrobe cleanout of Eileen Fisher pieces, it's more than most brands offer for worn items.
Items in poor condition or with significant wear may be declined or accepted for recycling (which earns less store credit than resale-quality items).
The honest read
The standard 30-day policy is unremarkable. The Renew program is genuinely notable — it's one of the few brand take-back programs in US retail that actually functions, has been running for years, and provides a route for older pieces beyond donation.
Eileen Fisher resale value
Eileen Fisher's resale value is steady — particularly for their linen, silk, and merino wool pieces. The brand skews toward a specific aesthetic and customer, so there's a defined secondary market for it. Pieces typically sell at 30–50% of retail on Poshmark and ThredUp.
Beyond direct resale, the Renew program gives you a brand-supported path for worn pieces. Cove tracks the secondary market value of your wardrobe so you can compare what you'd net from resale versus the Renew credit before deciding.
